Nikki and Jake | Denver, Colorado scenic front range session
Jake and Nikki were actually meant to meet up in a totally different location for our shoot..
But we got to this park with ridiculous views of the Denver front range I’d been dying to capture during my time in Denver, and they graciously obliged. By obliged, I mean agreeing even when I nervously texted them 15 minutes before our meetup time, hoping cell reception gods would be kind and promising it would be worth it. If you’ve never tried to capture this particular Colorado ridgeline, let me just say- it’s harder than it looks. You pass it on the highway but by the time you make a spontaneous exit and find yourself walking in one of the random parks in random directions to get the same view, it’s now 5:30 and pitch black. Get too close to the mountains and then you’re just staring at a bunch of greenery instead of that iconic scraggly heartbeat of a line.
Suffice it to say- finding this location was a gem, and so was running wildly around with these two awesome people. Denver has so many amazing spots for elopements or engagement sessions- it’s one of the most picturesque cities I’ve been to in the states.
One of the most riveting things out of this session was just how protective Jake was of Nikki. He immediately switched into the role of making her laugh, keeping her warm, offering reassurances that she was doing great. I like to think you can see it translated pretty perfectly in these photos. I like to think that’s what we want in a life partner, in times of uncertainty and anxiety (god help me if I’m ever in front of the camera)- a strong support that steadies us. Someone unafraid of picking you up so you can avoid cacti on the ground, and who will still loudly proclaim that they can beat you in a race (winner to be determined). Cheers to the real ones.
